The purpose of the WHOLE-Donor Study (Wellness and Health Outcomes of LivE Kidney Donors) is to create a follow-up registry for all live kidney donors at participating institutions in order to better understand the long-term effects of kidney donation. While the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) requires transplant centers to follow their live kidney donors for the first two years post-donation, few centers continue with routine follow-up. As a consequence, little is known about the long-term health and follow-up of live donors. Physicians and kidney donors across the nation are counting on our research to better understand these long-term effects. We have already surveyed over 1,000 donors and that number continues to grow every day! If you donated a kidney at Johns Hopkins and would like to join our study, give us a call at 443-287-4510 or send us an email at jhkidneydonor@jhmi.edu. We’d love to hear from you!
